Most people only know button mushrooms or oyster mushrooms. Actually, there are many more types of mushrooms that need to be known. Some mushrooms are edible and have a unique taste. Ranging from sweet to spicy, some even taste like lobster.
Other varieties of mushrooms can be used for medicinal benefits, such as boosting the immune system, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol. It may even be useful for treating cancer and other serious ailments.

8. Morel Mushroom
Morel mushrooms are among the most sought-after types of wild mushrooms. They are not cultivated and sold in shops.

Shiitake mushrooms have a texture like a portobello meat. They have a more smoky and earthy taste when cooked. Shiitake mushrooms are most often sold dry.
12. Lingzhi or Reishi Mushroom
Reishi or lingzhi mushrooms are often considered the gold standard when it comes to medicinal mushrooms. The types of mushrooms that have been widely cultivated as ingredients in traditional medicine.
Lingzhi mushroom is a polypore, which means a tough, cork-like fungus that grows on the sides of trees and is difficult to eat. It can be rare in the wild but fortunately is now grown on hard logs or sawdust on a commercial scale.
Not all reishi mushroom effects have been scientifically tested, but some of its purported uses include treating fatigue, lowering cholesterol, boosting the immune system.
It is even claimed to be able to fight HIV and AIDS, then lower blood pressure and inflammation, and to treat decreased urinary tract symptoms.
